ICS Venture Capital Panel

Main Stage

VC and Angel investors have been poring money, from $1M to $40M, into startups looking to sell security products to the ICS and IoT sectors. How do they decide to invest in a market segment, sector or product/service category? How do they analyze the opportunity? What are they looking from the potential startup or early stage company? How are they learning about future market demand? and more …

This panel has two very different VC’s that are looking at investments in the ICS security space. Tyler Williams is with Shell Technology Ventures who states their purpose as “Advanced technologies and disruptive innovation are vital to help meet future global energy needs. Shell Technology Ventures (STV) invests in companies across the energy sector to speed up the development and deployment of technologies complementing our business.”

Patrick Heim is with ClearSky which operates a fund with a broader focus on all areas of cyber sercurity and with a focus on financial return. ClearSky has investors concentrated in the energy sector – the largest being Nextera Energy. This helps focus the firm on security investments, such as ICS security, that support the energy sector. Patrick has 20+ years security experience and frequently evaluates pitches from many early stage security companies, including ICS security.
